Skincare Glossary - A

From The Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual that I have... I am probably going to type a little in each entry from now....

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAS) are naturally occuring acids found in fruits and milk, used topically to reduce the appearance of fine lines. AHAs help speed up the skin's natural exfoliation process, helping it shed dead skin cells. They can improve the texture of skin, unclog pores, and help prevent breakouts. Glycolic acid is one of the commonly used AHAs. Do not use products containing salicylic acid (a beta hydroxy acid), which is too harsh for general exfoliation, as they are intended for use only on problem skin areas.

Anti-Aging The best formula is a healthy lifestyle. Nothing will stop the clock. Poor diet, excessive drinking, smoking, lack of exercise, and sunburn all accelerate the effects of aging on the skin.

Antioxidants help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, molecules with an unpaired electron. They cause oxidation that can damage cellular material. Vitamins A, C, and E, beta-carotene, green tea, and grape seed extract are all highly effective antioxidants.

The page before the Skincare Glossary has a section on Sunscreen Application.
- Apply sunscreen at least once a day, and use an adequate amount of the product.
- Clean the skin before application.
- Apply to cool, dry skin twenty to thirty minutes before exposure. Cool, dry skin allows sunscreen to bind affectively. When sunscreen is applied to warm skin, the open pores can become irritated and rashes can develop.
- Two applications help cover any missed spots.
- Apply moisturizer and makeup over sunscreen.
- Reapply during the day, depending on your rate of perspiration and the amount of sun exposure.

So I had a little date with the Hubby and we had dinner at So Gong Dong in Palisades Park. This small restaurant specializes in Soon-Dubu. The food was pretty good but I did not like that it was so noisy.... It felt like people were screaming at the top of their lungs. We were trying to talk but could not hear each other so we just ate and left. It could also be that they placed the tables to close to each other.... I would go again for the food but not at dinner time...

Afterwords, we stopped by H-Mart. I did some food shopping... I wound up just putting things into the cart because packages looked cute. I picked up this Pat Bing Soo set.... Actually, I put it in my cart just because I saw strawberry syrup (at that point, I did not know what it was yet). Now, I just need an Ice Shaver.... Can't wait to try it!

The Hubby also got me the 15th Anniversary Issue of Ceci Magazine May 09. It came with a free Orbis UV Cut Sunscreen on Face Original with SPF 32.

Too much!

Last Thursday, I picked up my Coastal Scents package. I got a 15 e/s palette for me and a friend. I also got a bottle of the EZ Pressing Medium and some extra MAC size empty e/s pans. CS threw in a mica sample pigment in Tibetian Ochre.

And so I started to press some Missha Eye Glam Powder. L-R: Cerulean Blue, Pistachio Green, Orchid Purple, Shell Pink, and Moon Vanilla.

The hubby is starting to worry about me...

Picked up a Laneige Basic_Ex Set for Dry Skin Type... They had a set where there is only the toner and the emulsion but is the same price of this set so of course I am going to get the one with more items. :D It contained a Power Essential Skin Refiner (all skin), a Balancing Emulsion (dry skin), a Water Bank Cream 1, and some sample size items. Going to finish my Shiseido 1 2 3 Pureness Oil Control Mattifiant Set from Sephora first... Even though I got this Laneige Set.... I still want to get the Skinfood Peach Sake Skin Care Line.... What am I going to do? I am buying too much...

Got a box of Mamonde Brightening Sheet Mask (4 masks), a Laneige Eye Designer Cream, a Snow Crystal Dual Foundation with SPF 22 in 23 Sand Beige, a Multi Cleanser (for my lazy days because it removes makeup, cleanses, and exfoliates), and some eyelashes. :D

The SA surprised me when she whipped out a box of green tea as one of the free gifts.

Next, I went to across the street to TFS and picked up even more things... I picked up the entire foot care line because it sounded good to me. The scent is Orange Mint and I got the Foot and Heel Cream, Foot and Leg Gel, Foot Mist, and Foot Scrub. (Gotta prepare for the summer! ) Also got a Black Gel Liner (but I got mad pissed off when I got home to find that it was all dried up! Got my husband to stop by the next day to try to exchange it but the same SA gave him B/S saying I have to mix some kind of oil to make use it again because all gel liners dry up with time.... So he just got me store credit on my membership card... Back to the haul, I picked up a Real Secret Shimmering Cream, Oil-Free BB Cream, a Eye Liner Brush, 2 Illuminating Cushion Blushers in 01 Pink and 03 Violet (02 was orange so I did not get it...), and of course, more eyelashes.

Also got some sheet masks... Felt like I should have waited the week before.... At Walgreens, they go for 2/$5. Alot in TFS is only $2 and some $1.50. I got a Rose and Pine, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide, Acerola, Tea Tree and Bergamot, and a Pomegranate.

Both stores threw in a lot of samples but a lot of it was of something I have already so no point in posting pictures.

My CherryCulture order came too! I'm not disappointed with the pigmentation of the products but I am disappointed with the color sample that I went by when I ordered. I got:
- NYX Lip Smaking Fun Colors in Frosted Beige, Peach, and Tea Rose.
- NYX Girls Glosses in Apricot, Sparkle, Soap Opera Queen, Peach, and Strawberry.
- NYX Concealer in a Jar in Beige and Medium.
- NYX Concealer Stick in Beige, Medium, and Green.
- NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Baby Pink, Lilac Pearl, Silver, Jade, and Turquoise (the Turqoise looks blue! Biggest color difference!)
- NYX Chrome E/S in Blue Eyes, Green, Golden Peach, Oro, and Goddess.

I also got a package from the lovely Chiara!! I wanted her MAC Parrot and Aquavert so we swapped and she threw in so many extra goodies!! Thank you so much Chiara for swapping with me!!

FIN + Update

Yeah!! I just finished my last final!! I can relax more now.

The weather is so wierd! One day, it's sweating hot. Today its chilly again.... I want to break out the summer clothes already!!!

My  mother went to Peru recently with my aunts and uncle. They were going to switch for another plane for Argentine but because of the swine flu precautions, a team of doctors spent time checking everyone before they could step off the plane .... They could not board the plane on time so that screwed up the whole point of the trip which was to visit an aunt....

She did bring back some popular snack.... Or so my uncles friends said over there. Supposedly when alot of Canadian-Chinese visit, they buy tons of this to bring back to their families as gifts... I personally did not like the taste of it. I found the name funny though... King Kong. She also brought back some kind of instant black corn juice powder... I have no intentions to ever touch that...

I got my first MPPB order on Sat! It was really fast shipping. I got a travel Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play, Garden Botanika Cranapple Slipgloss, Prometheus Cosmetics Kissable Lip Plumper, 4 shadow shields (2 sets), 2 sample jars of Eyeko 3 in 1 cream sample (colors not labeled), Elysee ESCoCeuticals BioAccel-SB Serum (giving this to my mother), Fuchess Marden Creme Cleanser, Beautiful Uglies Pigment Sample in Frost, and the BeautyTicket coupon.  It was very exciting opening it up because you don't know what your getting but I'm really happy about the sizes of the products for the amount that I paid. Sometimes, I try out a 1x use packet of something and then buy the full product to realize that it is not good for me... The samples here are enough for a few good uses. I am thinking about 2 boxes next time :D

Picked up some nail polishes... From L-R: Bar-B, Lavender Creme, Caribbean Frost, and Bijiou Blue.

I stopped by the MAC counter at Macy's.... Some MUAs loves me and some hates me. Everytime I go, there is always the one person who ignores me and then regrets it. I always know exactly what I want when I go so I am a easy customer. Because I know what I want, I buy alot at once compared to the girls that are always taking so long and then only buy like 2 glosses... I picked up 5 e/s, a Prep and Prime Lash, and a Prep and Prime Skin. When the MUA that ignored me finally came over to ring up the other girl, the eyes stared at me upon hearing my total. :D I felt a lot better. My purchase came out to be ~ $110. Honestly, this amount might not be alot to some people but compared to the other girl who bought 2 glosses only.... Why does this keep happening to me though?

With Flash. Colors from L-R: Goldmine (Frost), Gleam (Lustre), Honey Lust (L), RetroSpeck (L), and Crystal Avalanche (Veluxe Pearl).
Without Flash. (Kinda shaky...sorry!)

:D I bought a MAC Pro Palette. I got this package today via the UPS man whom I love because there is never B/S with him. He is also very nice and my packages are always on time. USPS on the other hand... According to the tracking for my CoastalScents Package, they attempted delivery today at 9:13 am. I was home until 1 pm. WTF?!?! Not only that, they left no notice for me even though they say that "a notice was left". Grrr.... Anyways, I am planning to fill this palette up soon. I already depotted my Goldmine and my Retrospeck.

I am still waiting for my CherryCulture order. It is taking forever. I placed a order the 1st day of the 10 Year Anniversary Sale and it left CA on May 7 according to USPS tracking but there has been no update since... All I can do is wait because it is USPS.... Not going to expect exceptional service... Especially after today....

I received my Forever21 order but I'm returning more than 1/2 my order. The way the packer stuffed it into the tiny box messed up some pieces bigtime... I will post the hair stuff in my next post....

I dug out this really old Tony and Tina Lip Palette....The mirror says: "Smile. You're Beautiful". I'm thinking about cleaning out all the old gloss to reuse the container. It can hold up to 5 colors but it will be a little messy...

I recently started using the Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel  and Water Sleeping Pact and so I have promoting it among family and friends because I love it so much... I got a Polish friend into it and now she wants to get it too! Yeah!! I am going get to go to the Laneige store and The Face Shop store in Palisades Park next week. Yes!!! I will get to see the actual products that they carry instead of looking it up online and asking the Husband to pick it up for me "if" they carry it... Any suggestion?

Mother's Day Weekend

It's mother's day weekend and the weekend before 3 of my finals! grrrr! Not good...

Picked up a Garnier Nutritioniste exfoliator for myself... Hope it will be good. The green tube is the exfoliator. The white one is a moisturizer with SPF 15.

Stopped by Walgreens today to get some FaceShop masks but they did not have all the ones that I wanted! >.<

Stopped by Sephora to pick up some Clinique All About the Eyes for part of the Mother's day gift x 3. Why x 3? Everytime my sister and I give something skincare related nowadays, she always tells 2 aunts about it and then they want it too. >.< Tiffany loves it so I thought I would give it a try since I need one for the summer and it is 2 in one (face and body) so all the better!

I go to Macy's next but should I have? Guess what I see at the Shiseido counter? A skincare set for the summer with the exact product I just picked up at Sephora!! ............So I buy it. :D It comes with a 3.3 fl. oz Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 PA+++, a .6 oz Sun Protection Eye Cream SPF 32 PA+++, a 2.5 fl. oz Ultimate Cleansing Oil, a .25 fl. oz White Lucent Concentrated Brightening Serum, and a .25 fl. oz White Lucent Brightening Serum for Neck and Decolletage. I almost forgot the insanely bright orange pouch.... >.<

Now I am finally home.... I go online and browse... Guess what I see now? LOL. Sephora has another set!

This set has a 2.5 oz Ultimate Cleansing Oil, a 2 oz Sun Protection Cream, a 0.14 oz Lip Treatment, a 0.06 Eye Cream, 4x Refreshing Cleansing Sheets, and a Mini Orange Pouch ( that I might actually use....).

I don't know which set I want now.... The main product in one set is a lotion and the other is a cream.... Should I return the Macy's set too and get the set from Sephora?

Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

Grr!!! Gotta repost! I can't even copy and paste because everything is coming out wierd looking.... I had to delete my previous post because it caused a layout malfunction... But here is the post:

I just got my Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual from Amazon. I got it for about $20 compared to Bobbi Brown's website where it is going for $32.

Brush Care:
Did you know that Bobbi Brown likes to use baby shampoo for brush care? Basically, swirl the brush in your palm with the soap and then rinse but do not immerse the brush head in water because the hair will come apart!................... I <33

Makeup care:
Take out anything that is in a broken container or missing a cap. You can pour liquid foundation into a fresh bottle, scoop out creams and lipsticks and transfer them to small containers or palettes, and place capless pencils in sip-toop plastic bags. Broken powder blushes and pressed type compacts are irreparable and should be tossed. Weekly maintance is easier than semiannual overhauls.

You also need to get rid of any makeup that's past its expiration date:
Liquid and cream foundation - 2 years
Concealer - 2 years
Powder - 2 years
Mascara - 6 months
Lipstick - 12 to 18 months
Lip and eye pencils - 12 to 18 months
Eye shadow - 2 years
Powder blush - 2 years
Cream blush - 2 years
Moisturizer - 2 years
Eye cream - 6 months
Sunscreen - 2 years
Face cream - 2 years

I stopped at this section and went to go attempt to throw away things... Was not really successful... Only threw away my beloved Imju Fiberwig because it was done anyways.... Going to go back to the book now! :D

Orders on the way!!!

I woke up today and ran ahead of my husband to use the internet :D. Ordered my first Pretty Pink Box. He was saying to me: "just because they sent you a reminder does not mean that you have to get it!" but I got it anyways. The reason I got one is because I saw it on wuzzyangel's blog.

My friend picked me up wayyyy tooo fast and then we went to do some errands (I sent out the package Chiara! :D ) and then went to go shopping (after picking up another friend). We wanted to have Minado's but someone had to have a bagel before hand so there is no point in paying for a person at a buffet if the person is not going to eat right? >.<

Now I'm home and finally going to  post some things from the past 2 weeks....

Some E.L.F. eyelashes... Gotta practice with cheap ones before I get expensive ones :D

Picked up some hair stuff from Forever21. Love the satin look!

Random shoe from my closet :D by irregular choice

I placed an order last friday from CherryCulture because of the NYX 10 year anniversary sale... This will be my first time owning NYX cosmetics.... Will do a post when I get them. :D Can't wait!

I also placed on order with Forever21. My husband has been complaining that I am buying too much makeup and not enough clothes and shoes.... *GASP* But I can never have enough makeup!!! (Yes, I think I have an addiction....)

O.O Now to mention the food. So I saw that Bittenbefore picked up this Korean snack a while back from her trip to Korea so I picked a package up from Han Ah Reum.

I did not cook it. My husband did.

While I was writing my paper this weekend....

I have a subscription to the FoodNetwork Magazine. Yup. I cook. Before this makeup addiction, I used to buy lots of kitchen stuff. I wanted to share this recipe they had in the Thai section for May's issue. I <33

End of the semester...

It is almost over. May 13th is my last final! I'm trying to write a paper right now but I can't seem to focus....

I'm down to my last pair of contacts so I had to break out my glasses... They are Prada glasses. I bought them a few years back. I got these when I was into stars alot... The reason is that on the leg (is that what it is called??), there are 3 stars and I like white. I have not worn them in so long...

I got a new bag! Its a product featuring artwork by Gwen Stefani. The tag says that its a whateverittakes product. The Whatever It Takes collection supports the 21st Century Leaders Foundation in its work to tackle key global development causes including poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, and the protection of children.
I like this bag because it is roomy and it has a hot pink satin lining on the inside!! It's big enough for me to lug school books around in plus all the other stuff I carry around (which is alot!!) and I really had to let my Aldo rest...

I decided to use one of my travel cleansers this morning... I don't know why... I love that it is paper thin which makes it so light when your on the go! It is a DHC Q10 facial film soap. You can get it here: DHC. For $11, you get 40 sheets. It is individually wrapped so you can just throw a few into your bag and go... All you need is to wet it with water when you use it. The Q10 fights signs of aging and it does not leave me feeling dry!

Got to go back to writing my paper... >.<
